So, go get a petand pet it! 19) Chew gum Chewing gum alleviates negativity and reduces cortisol when under stress, according to one study. So grab your nearest pack of gum and chew that thing like it’s nobody’s business. Oh, and what’s that about chewing gum having a negative connotation? I didn’t think so. 20) Speak out loud Talk about your stress with someone. Really, it helps. Bodybuilding is the process of constructing muscle through persistent and excessive weight lifting followed by a strict high-protein, low-fat diet. This process results into a sport called competitive bodybuilding, where athletes display their physical body to judges and get evaluated for their physique.Bodybuilding is becoming more and more popular among men. Bodybuilding can be considered a lifestyle and an attitude towards life. Bodybuilders are regarded as a subculture with their own set of values, beliefs, and traditions. There are different reasons as to why more and more men are entering the world of professional bodybuilding, but the most significant one is the urge to fit the social standards for a lean, muscular and flawless body. Nowadays, where society judges people by their physical appearance, and not by their inner appearance, having the perfect body is the dream of many. Indeed, having an attractive body, can really impact the way the individual sees himself by increasing the persons self-esteem. A healthy amount of self-esteem, helps the person feel inherently worthy, acceptable, and valuable. Additionally, if the individual was that awkward, skinny, and shy kid in school that got picked on all the time, by lifting weights and bulking up, he might start to get respected more. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Bodybuilding Is The Process Of Constructing Muscle" essay for you Create order This exact situation has happened to tons of teens. When I asked my brothers friend, Andrea, who is on his way to becoming a competitive bodybuilder, why he decided to become part of this subculture, he said: When I was in middle school, I was a chubby, insecure, and stammering kid. Everyone would make fun of my stutter and call me names such as fat and ugly. I thought that getting bigger and ripped would increase my confidence, and that going to the gym could help me release all my anger. Bodybuilding really helped my do that. A lot of future bodybuilders start going to the gym in seek for a refugee and place where they can go and release all their emotions. This leads to them getting so engaged with weight lifting, and proud of the progress obtained, that they cant ever stop training. Subsequently, gaining a certain love for the sport, for them to pass from being recreational weight lifters to becoming professional bodybuilders. Another reason as to why someone would want to become a bodybuilder is to feel something different. Most bodybuilders start their careers at an early age when they become having strong desires to make themselves different from the crowd. In the modern society impressive muscles are a sign of masculinity and men decide to start taking up bodybuilding practices because they want to exceed the stereotypes present in the modern society and impress everyone around them. In fact, when talking to Andrea, he told me that some of his friends decided get into the world of bodybuilding because they wanted to exceed the stereotypes present in modern society and feel somehow different from everyone else. Bodybuilders consider uniqueness as a positive thing. Being different from the rest of average society by showing your aggression, and demonstrating dominance by excess strength and musculature is what some members of this subculture really aspire to. Said Andrea. In fact, bodybuilders, place the ir physical appearance as a top priority. Members of this subculture are easily to recognize. Beside presenting an almost fat-free, but substantially bigger than average body, with overdeveloped muscles and perfect tans, they are usually very confident and proud of who they are. They are proud of their stubbornness that brought them their desired results. In fact, all the hours spent at the gym and the overly strict diet are rewarded by the results obtained. Additionally, bodybuilders are mentally determined; they know how to work hard towards their goal which is a personality trait not present in many people. Supplementary to the extreme work out, athletes participate in competitions where, by performing specified poses for a panel of judges, they get judged based on criteria such as their muscles symmetry and muscularity. Since the prizes at stake include money and fame, this may trigger the urge for viewers to join this subculture. Additionally, the results obtained in these competitions, scatter the desire for the compet itors to get even stronger and more defined. In order to become a member of this subculture, a beginner bodybuilder, must first appreciate the achievements of those who have already succeeded and secondly, be consistent and be both mentally and physically strong. Once individuals become part of the bodybuilders subculture, they take on a new unique set of values and morals that are often different from average society. This subculture is made up of a very specific group of people who all share common physical goals. These individuals place a priority on exercising and eating a proper diet that will create more muscle. Bodybuilders spend a colossal time at the gym; as a matter of fact, bodybuilders, tend to socialize and hang out only with other bodybuilders. One of the reason as to why this might happen could be because regular people, who are not part of this specific subculture, dont always have the ability to get them, or what they do, as much as another member of their subculture would. After talking to Andrea I remember him saying: Without the help my coach, who is a professional bodybuilder and who started at my same age and my friends, who I met at the gym and who have the same goals that I have, I would have never reached the results that I have accomplished. When individuals start practicing the sport of bodybuilding, they need to not only devote themselves to training, but they also need to be mentally ready. Therefore, it takes a great deal of mental and physical strength to become a successful bodybuilder and having someone who can support you in doing so is essential. As Andrea said: Bodybuilders go beyond their limits. The sport requires too much strength for the average individual. In order to be part of this subculture, one really needs to feel a huge amount of motivation since everything about the sport is so extreme. Besides an extreme work out, another reason as to why someone would want to become a bodybuilder is for the high caloric diet that members of this subculture must follow. Training without proper nutrition is like rowing against the stream. In fact, in this subculture, diet is as important as the workout. By working out and following a poor diet, an individual would never see as good of results as if he works out and follows a proper diet. The proper bodybuilding diet includes small and frequent meals. Every meal should consist of carbohydrates, lots of protein, and good but small fat quantities. Also, always being hydrated is very important, as it can help the development of the muscle. Secondly, the assumption of protein shakes and protein bars is a must to reach the daily amount of protein needed to build that extra muscle mass. Thirdly, the use of steroids is also part of the bodybuilding diet. As Andrea said: Anabolic steroids are the ones that are most commonly used by professionals and even though these drugs can have some side effects, it is believed that one cannot reach their maximum potential without their use. The bodybuilding subculture is so intense and extreme that in order to become part of it, an individual truly needs an over the average mind and body connection. It is both mentally and physically draining. During their work out, bodybuilders literally have to feel like their muscles are striving to grow bigger and stronger and, in order for this process to happen, they need to detach their focus from the pain they are into, and shift it to the results that that pain is going to give them. In addition, the strict high caloric but low-fat diet is not for everyone. Who would want to give up that greasy donut or sugary desert after dinner? The fact that more and more men are becoming part of this subculture, could lead to this extreme sport, to become a mainstream activity. It takes a great deal of enormous strength and motivation to become a successful bodybuilder. One needs to feel a huge amount of motivation to be able to hit the gym every single day and follow their strict diet. Also, average people do not share the values of the bodybuilding subculture. The need for excessive muscles are not valued by everyone. The subculture is made up of a very specific group of people who all share common physical and idealistic goals. There is a special bond that members of the bodybuilding subculture share and, people who are not in the circle of bodybuilders generally do not understand. The rise of the spread of this sport may be mostly due to the increase value modern society gives to a muscular body. Wanting an admirable and muscular body, the need for an individual to increase his self-esteem through weight lifting, eating a high caloric diet or the need to feel different from average society, are some of the other reasons as to why more and more men want to be part of this unique subculture.

Changes Woody Allen’s Annie Hall is a film that depicts the life of a character named Alvy Singer, a comedian who always seems nervous, is full of self-loathing, doesn‘t have a positive perspective on life, had an unhappy childhood and has been divorced twice. He knows he has problems but can’t figure out how to solve them in a dignified way so uses sex as a substitute. By the end of the film however, he shows a significant change in his outlook on life, due mostly to his recent relationship with a woman named Annie Hall. We will write a custom essay sample on Woody Allen – Annie Hall or any similar topic only for you Order Now They end their relationship but Alvy learns from it, makes changes in his life, and uses it as a stepping stone into his future. The first moment where he shows change is when he compliments Annie after her first performance at a night club. She thinks she did horribly so he gives her reasons why she wasn’t as bad as she thought which cheers her up. This signifies Alvy turning a bad situation into a good one and shows confidence for the first time. Another moment where he shows change is his meeting with Annie in Los Angeles after they have broken up for good. He does things that he is usually reluctant to do: leaving New York City, driving a car, and eating at a health food restaurant. Although it doesn’t end like he hoped, he accepts that they aren’t going to be together any longer and doesn‘t complain, which is his usual response. In addition, he shows growth when he writes a play about his relationship with Annie, which shows their last meeting in L. A. but with an alternate ending with them together; proving that the relationship affected him enough to analyze and critique it. He views the relationship as a learning experience and uses the play to articulate his experience in a productive way, something he hasn’t done yet. Lastly, the ending of the film shows the most significant change from Alvy. He meets with Annie and seems genuinely happy to spend time with her and says he’s glad that he got to know her, contrary to his prior notion to have sex to solve his problems. Alvy’s first noticeable change occurs after Annie’s audition at the club. It’s her first time and she thinks that her performance was awful because the audience wasn’t paying attention and there were distractions such as microphone feedback, dropping glass, and a ringing phone. After her performance, they’re walking down the street and he cheers her up by telling her that the crowd was â€Å"a tad restless† and that she has a â€Å"wonderful voice† (42). He usually saw things in a negative light before this moment and this was the first time in the film where he turned a bad situation into a better one. This helped Annie continue her singing and she improved later because of Alvy and opened new doors for her, thanks to Alvy’s persuasion and change of view. He saw the possible relationship between them as something worthwhile and it ultimately led up to his transformation at the end of the movie. He makes her feel better–confident enough to brag, â€Å"Yeah, you know something? I never even took a lesson, either† (42). She accepts his support and Alvy realizes he would need to support her through rough times to keep the relationship rolling. And it meant that he would have to adjust his views and habits to keep her happy. They both changed a little in this scene with both of them being more positive toward bleak situations and Alvy bringing benefits out of this situation. After this, he convinces her to kiss him saying that it will â€Å"digest their food better† (43). Maybe he said this joke just to have sex with Annie (which he does in a few scenes) and wouldn’t be much of a change. But he wanted to be in a long term relationship because he told Annie that he wouldn’t let her quit singing. He foresaw that he could help her become a better person and maybe figure himself out along the way, reiterating that he was aware of his problems and wanted to change his ways. After they break up and Annie moves to Los Angeles, Alvy takes the initiative for the first time and flies to L. A. from New York City to try and convince her to marry him. He rents a car to see her and when he tells her this on the phone, she seems surprised causing Alvy to say â€Å"What-why is that such a miracle? † (97). He isn’t fond of California and despises driving so it’s obvious that he wants to be with Annie because he’s doing things he that he usually doesn’t and tries new things to get what he wants. Even Annie notices the change because she knows that Alvy doesn’t like driving. He fights to get back with Annie, a noteworthy change for a man who has been divorced twice and uses sex to relieve his problems. When Alvy arrives at a health food restaurant, he tells the waitress â€Å"I’m gonna . . . I’m gonna have the alfalfa sprouts and, uh, a plate of mashed yeast† (97). It’s a very dd combination, but his choice proves that he was willing to try new things to be with Annie. He figures that he has to make adjustments in his own life in order to better suit Annie’s way of life. But they immediately start bickering with Annie vehemently saying â€Å"Alvy, you’re incapable of enjoying life, you know that? I mean your li fe is New York City. You’re just this person. You’re like this island unto yourself† (98). Alvy then stutters on but doesn’t say anything coherent, her words hitting him like two tons of bricks, knowing that what she said was true. He knows that his problems are unlike other people’s. He knows that he has to change his negative perspective on life if he ever wants to be with Annie or get into any other meaningful relationship. He knows that no one knows him like Annie. So he accepts her criticism for the first time and takes her words into consideration. He realizes he would have to stop living â€Å"self-consciously in his own world of illusion† (Conard 109). The play Alvy is directing about his rendezvous with Annie in Los Angeles indicates that he used their relationship to his advantage and now understands himself better. He writes what really happens until he makes his character say â€Å"Okay, if that’s all that we’ve been through together means to you, I guess it’s better if we just said goodbye, once and for all! † (102). Although it may seem immature of him to change the ending to end on his own terms, it proves that he knew that he could’ve acted better instead of arguing with Annie the entire time. That moment was monumental in his transformation and is still working it out in his head. He also changed the last scene to end in his favor with Annie saying â€Å"Wait! I’m-I’m gonna . . go with you† and â€Å"I love you†(102). This shows growth in Alvy because he is expressing his heartbreak in a healthy manner instead of feeling sorry for himself. Also, changing the ending suggests that he knows he can control his life now that he has a better perspective on it. In reality though, she told Alvy that she didn’t love him so he ma kes her say it to envision how he would have liked it to end, on his own terms and with his own decisions. After this scene he looks at the audience and says â€Å" Tsch, whatta you want? It was my first play. You know, you know how you’re always tryin’ t’ get things to come out perfect in art because, uh, it’s real difficult in life† (102). He knows that he’s changed but still has some work to do in order to get the ending he wants. His life isn’t perfect and uses the play to figure himself out and is still using that relationship to become a better person. He’s now able to reflect on his mistakes and turn them around to work for him. The final part of Alvy’s transformation is shown when he runs into Annie in New York and they go out for lunch. After lunch, they â€Å"shake hands and kiss each other friendly like† (105). Their prior encounter ended in disarray and she wouldn’t have kissed him if she didn’t have a good time this time around. It can be interpreted that Alvy has changed for the better and Annie has noticed this change, causing the friendly kiss. He then exclaims â€Å"I realized what a terrific person she was and-and how much fun it was just knowing her† (105). She was the first woman that he came across that he actually appreciated rather than use for sex. He’s glad that he got to know her because she helped him change his perspective on relationships from lust and sex to just having a partner who can make him better himself. It’s clear that he views relationships differently when he tells his last joke, this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says ‘Doc, uh, my brother’s crazy. He thinks he’s a chicken. ’ And, uh, the doctor says, ‘Well, why don’t you turn him in? ’ And the guy says, ‘I would, but I need the eggs. ’ Well, I guess that’s pretty much how I feel about relationships. You know, they’re totally irrational and crazy and absurd and . . but, uh, I guess we keep goin’ through it because, uh, most of us need the eggs. (105) He realizes that we all go through the tribulations of relationships because of what lies at the end of the road. It may be positive or negative and in Alvy’s case, it turned out that it made him a better person. He now knows how to handle a relationship and knows that it’s not all about him. After dealing with his problems, he learns that the aftermath can benefit him. Annie Hall may be a romantic comedy, but we can use it to help ourselves. According to Michael Castrignano’s biography on Allen, he was divorced twice before the release of this movie, similar to Alvy. Alvy used to be a negative person who didn’t want to solve his problems but after a bad situation, turned his life around. He learned how to turn a negative into a positive, that he has to take the initiative, how to express himself instead of feeling sorry, and that relationships can’t be all about sex. Perhaps Allen used Alvy to help himself and we in turn can use Alvy as an example on how to deal with our problems. We may not necessarily have the same types of problems but we can make turn a negative into a positive. He reflected on the whole situation and used it to change his views on life. We all go through bad times but if we change our perspectives on certain things, we can usually benefit from it. Customer Support Managment

Question: Discuss about theCustomer Support Managment. Answer: Introduction Two Important Features of a Help Desk Green et al. (2014) portrays that every organization products or a service. However, it is not possible for an employee to attend office 24X7 and 100% operational uptime. As a result, in recent times every organization implements the facility of the help desk during the time when no employees are present in the office to attend their customers or if a customer comes with their query after the office hours. In this section, two features of the help desk will be discussed. User-Friendly Interface Nwude et al. (2015) depicts that customer often gets impatient while navigating a help desk portal and look for the exact solution for their queries. Bovim et al. (2014) further affirms that an individual not always get the solution they are looking n for and sometimes they got confused as the solution given in the portal is not understandable for those customers. Thus, they always prefer those organizations that have a quick turnaround time and easy-to-use interface by tracking and addressing user-reported incidents. Knowledge Base Attachments and Screen Shots A user may be too busy to resolve their queries in the daytime due to their work or any other reasons and they prefer to contact the organization customer care when they are free. Zhao et al. (2013) mentions that picture is worth a thousand words and an effective help desk services have a good knowledge base software system with appropriate screenshots of the troubleshooting features so that it will be easy for the user to understand the procedure through which they can handle the problem they are facing. Andrews et al. (2016) further depicts that the screenshot related to the different problem are indexed by the knowledge base search engine that makes the user track the exact problem. Review of the Journal Article The article emphasizes on the fact that a help desk is a computer-aided environment that is implemented to assist customer trough front line phone support. However, the major concern of this writing is to build a Case-Based Help Desk (CBHD) system, which is a computerized method to study the troubleshooting solutions (Rahman et al., 2014). This journal also highlights that in the conventional time's organization have worker for this job; however, in the recent times, a case-based system easily abstract knowledge acquisition from the available information. The problem domain of the case-based system is the Information System Management Computer. The company, which offers a comprehensive range of solutions with the proliferation of diverse types of computer software so that best solution can be provided to the customer at a minimum cost. This section also consists of three suggestions to improve the contents of this paper- Outdated Case-Base Systems Case-base systems are run on half-automated development methodology and cannot create folders for creating a large number of problem solution and needs all of the cases to be depicted in only one flowchart (Valverde et al., 2014). However, in recent times, databases are designed for storing larger data and each question is present with questions, answers and their appropriate actions. Some problem arises in the previous system that is the source modification was not so easy in the past as compatibility issues arise a lot and often manual additions will be overwritten. Thus, the system has to be developed that matches compatibility of the basic platform so that no redundancy will occur. Effective Verification Tool In this journal two steps for verification is depicted- test the case base with the formulated flowcharts and use the CBR report tool to evaluate the application. This procedure is very time-consuming and required the assistance of an expert in this field, thus, it would be better if some automatic machine will be programmed for accomplishing the same task. Implementation of the Database Management System and Cloud Technology In the given journal it is stated that in older times, an empty case base is formulated and tree structures folders are categorized manually for formalizing the domain knowledge. However, Sharif and Ward (2013) depicts that in recent times, the data entry are done once from the front office then the details of the existed data are updated in the database system without any replication of any data and prepare a flowchart for assessing the exact problem. As the data stored in the cloud are tracked in accordance with the DBMS and exact data can find out by using the primary key. Role of Principles of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) in Help Desk Abid (2012) states that the most strategic method of implementing a Help Desk is the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and some of the best features for which technology gains the fame in the contemporary organization are- Single point of contact (SPOC) for IT interruptions, Problem escalation procedures, Tracking capabilities of all incoming problems, problem resolution along with Computer or Software consultations. This IT library is designed to standardize the selection delivery and support of IT services to a business for providing real-time assistance for customer retention that results in an effective brand recognition in the maker and a huge profitability. Two examples of ITIL principles in the vehicle break down help desk setup Incident Management and Problem Management Andrews et al. (2016) depicts that vehicle breakdown services must offer to break down/accident recovery services and solutions, battery boosting solutions, fuel delivery and even flat tire services and these facilities are known as mechanical first aid services. In these cases, ITIL offers incident management first in a car breakdown services. Sharif and Ward (2013) also affirms that the system assesses whether the question asked by a customer is right or not. This can be done by evaluating the database and then determine whether the raised problem is genuine or not. These right details can also asset by evaluating some measures- Requestor details, connection to the requestor location and network and car and network status and details. Bovim et al. (2014) further stated that in the context of the problem management, the possible solution is assessed and then provided to the customer. This system also provide sufficient detailed steps to take preventive measures and also provide them the nearby car service center. Configuration Management Database In the case of Configuration Management Database, Zhao et al. (2013) mention that the vehicle company can store the Requestor Details like- requestor name, requestor contact details, their location, associated priority and associated workstations and assets. In this way, they can provide them exact details where could they get efficient mechanics. Moreover, they can also store workstation details like- Location of the workstation where the car will be recovered, Workstation Hardware and software details so that customer can be satisfied with the recovery work. Abid (2012) lastly depicts that with the details of the associated assets, the service provider can store the details like cars parts, fuel and other accessories along with the asset status, availability reports and problem history. Schindlers List Essays (1186 words) - Oskar Schindler,

Schindler's List Schindler's List is a movie that though I had heard much about, I had never seen. I don't know if it was out of lack of interest for the subject, fear of the reportedly graphic scenes, or just the knowledge of its length that I avoided the film, but I did. I can remember when I was in 8th grade hearing an announcement over the loudspeaker that all of the seniors had to bring in their permission slips so that they would be allowed to watch the film in the auditorium the following week. That certainly piqued my interest. What was it about this film that was so bad that it required a permission slip, yet so good that it was being shown in school for the students? When I learned that we would be watching the film in class, I was excited and curious to finally see what all the hype was about. What I found out was that it was a very sad, very depressing, and very beautiful film. Not beautiful in the sense of those Jane Austen pictures with the rolling English landscapes and multi-colored d resses, but beautiful in its complexity and honesty. It was brutally graphic, but not in a gratuitous way like the popular films of today, it was graphic because it was an accurate portrayal of true event in history. Without the violence and nudity it would have betrayed the truth, sugarcoating it, and providing a dishonest picture of the evil that was the Holocaust. The film begins in Krakow, Poland just after the collapse of the Polish army and at the beginning of the German occupation. Oskar Schindler, a tall handsome womanizer arrives in the city looking to open a factory in order to profit from the war. Since the Jews are no longer permitted to own businesses, Oskar obtains a factory from a Jewish man named Itzhak Stern, and appoints him as his accountant and manager. The two form a strange relationship, Oskar taking advantage of Stern's talent, and Stern distrustingly but obediently following Schindler's orders. Schindler gets the rich Jews from the ghetto to invest in the factory and he uses Jews to work for him since they cost him little. Through the black market, Schindler obtains numerous delicacies such as liquor and chocolate for the SS and German officers and sends them large gift baskets that place him in their good favor. Schindler spent his days entertaining the Nazis and his many women, while leaving the work of running the factory to Itzhak's very capable hands. Whenever he did meet with Stern, the intelligent manager would feed him little stories of how the Jews were being treated. Though at first he took these stories with a grain of salt, Schindler began to feel more and more impacted and would make small moves that showed that inside the seemingly callous man, was a compassionate and caring individual. Schindler's factory became a haven for the Jews among all of the chaos. The word quickly spread that in Schindler's factory nobody died. Schindler himself was apparently unaware of this fact until one day, a young Jewish woman disguised herself, and went to ask Schindler to please hire her parents who were at a labor camp. He was appalled by this request and fearful of what could happen to him. His angry outburst scared the poor girl out of his office, but a few days later she rejoiced when she saw her parents being shepherded into his factory by German officials. Several days later, all of the Jews in the camps are asked to strip and put through numerous exams to see whether they are sick or healthy enough to work. They are separated and the weak ones are gassed. All of the children are placed in trucks, and they are sent away. The Russians are nearing, and to avoid them, the Germans plan on moving the Jews to a different camp further into Poland. Schindler realizes that he is running out of time and he makes a deal with Amon Goeth to ?buy? the Jews. Working with Stern the two compile a list of 1100 workers from memory. These Jews are given over

Hobbes vs Locke on Natural Rig essays

Hobbes vs Locke on Natural Rig essays Thomas Hobbes, author of Leviathan, claims that peace and unity can best be achieved by setting up a society by having humans agree to a covenant (Hobbes: Ch.18 pg.548). A sovereign who is in charge of protecting the society or state rules Hobbess society. In his introduction, Hobbes describes this commonwealth as an "artificial person" and as a body politic that mimics the human body. Hobbes portrays the state as a gigantic human form built out of the bodies of its members, the sovereign as its head (Hobbes: Introduction pg.492). Hobbes calls this figure the "Leviathan," which means "sea monster" in Hebrew and is the name of a monstrous sea creature appearing in the Bible. Hobbes tries to prove that a sovereign is necessary for preserving peace. John Locke, author of Second Treatise of Government, places sovereignty into the hands of the people. Locke claims that people are equal and has natural rights in a state of nature where they are free from outside rule. In the state of nature, people have the right to judge someone and execute the law against someone who violates their rights. People take what they need from the earth but usually take more than they need. Then they develop a common currency in order to trade their extra goods. Hobbes claims that everyone is equal (Hobbes: Ch.13 pg. 531), everyone should fight for self-preservation (Hobbes: Ch.14 pg. 533), and everyone has to give up some rights to be able to enter a society (Hobbes: Ch.17 pg.547-548). Locke claims that everyone is equal (Locke: Ch.2 4 pg.626), everyone has the right to self-preservation, everyone has the right to punish (Locke: Ch.2 8 pg.627), and everyone has to make a contract or promise before entering a society (Locke: Ch.8 95 pg. 650). Hobbes claims that freedom is the lack of impediments . There are two types of freedom: positive and negative. Positive freedom is the ability to do what you want to do and what you should do w...

Are There Counterexamples to the Closure Principle by Jonathan Vogel Article

Are There Counterexamples to the Closure Principle by Jonathan Vogel - Article Example To help make his point, the author provides a clear example in the form of a Dretske case regarding a zebra in a zoo. Through this example, the author is then able to explain the Dretske argument relatively clearly, illustrating what is meant by the Closure principle and how this principle ends up facing a counterexample. From here, he then proves how the counterexample fails in this particular case. This presentation of his argument makes it much easier to understand than some of the other articles on this subject. By presenting a relatively concrete case full of strong imagery, the author makes it possible for the layman reader to follow his thoughts and then gain a relatively clear understanding of what he’s saying. Then he expands his case to apply to a broader example, using examples of car theft and the lottery to explain what he calls the lottery proposition, in which possibilities have to exist somewhere in order for that to be considered a counterexample. In analyzing these examples, the author illustrates how the principles discovered do not undercut skepticism even though they prove that counterexamples to the closure principle do not exist. The detailed style of the article and the straight-forward ‘concrete’ form of his examples, rather than the abbreviated ps and qs of other articles, makes it possible to follow his thought to its final
